Screen-Free Family Fun Starts Here

I don’t know about you, but I’m constantly fighting the screen battle at home. Phones, tablets, game consoles, TV, it sometimes feels like everyone is in their own little bubble. That’s why I’ve grown to really cherish the moments when we all sit around the table, phones away, and dive into a board game together.

It’s not just about the game. It’s the conversations. The laughter. The small moments where you catch a glimpse of your child’s cleverness, your partner’s competitive streak, or your own need to finally win a game of Dixit for once (still working on that, by the way).

Board games are magic like that.

The Lost Art of Being Present

Let’s face it, life is busy. And while technology keeps us connected in one way, it often pulls us apart in another. Board games have this incredible power to bring us back to the present. No buzzes, no pings, no doom scrolling. Just cards, tokens, dice, and people you love.

Over the years, we’ve made board games a bit of a tradition. Whether it’s Sunday afternoons, rainy half-terms, or just when we need a laugh, it’s become our go-to for screen-free family fun.

Make It Easy (and Affordable)

Now, I get it, board games can be pricey. And if your family is like mine, attention spans and tastes change faster than you can say “Meeple.”

That’s exactly why I started Love Board Games, a board game rental service that lets you borrow board games instead of buying them.

You don’t need to spend £40+ on a game you might only play once. With plans starting from just £19.95 a month, you can have up to 2, 4, or even 6 different games each month to keep things fresh, exciting, and affordable.

Our Family Favourites

Some of our best family memories have come from games like:

  • 🐼 Takenoko – Who knew growing bamboo could be this adorable?

  • 🎨 Canvas – A creative, calm game that brings out everyone’s inner artist.

  • 🐲 Casting Shadows – A magical, slightly chaotic battle that never gets old.

  • 🐱 The Isle of Cats – Because rescuing cats while puzzling is peak family bonding.

With Love Board Games, you can rent games, try something new each time, and find the ones your family truly loves, without filling up your shelves (or breaking the bank).

The Real Win

At the end of the day, it’s not about who wins or loses. (Well… unless I’ve finally managed to beat my partner at Parks, then it definitely matters.)

It’s about sitting down together. Talking. Laughing. Remembering that the best moments don’t come from screens, they come from being present.

So if you’re looking to make more of those moments, give board games a try. And if you want to borrow instead of buy, you know where to find us.
